Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has encouraged the use of social media as an innovative learning medium that aligns with students’ characteristics. One of the social media platforms widely used by students is TikTok, which has potential as a short video-based learning medium. This study aims to analyze the utilization of TikTok as a learning medium in the subject of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve students’ learning outcomes and learning motivation at SMK Negeri 1 Tanara. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest design. The research subjects were students of class X A and X B. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and learning motivation questionnaires, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and linearity tests. The results showed an improvement in students’ learning outcomes, indicated by an average pretest score of 44.50% and a posttest score of 75.00%. Students’ learning motivation also increased, with a percentage of 83.00% in the pretest and 83.50% in the posttest. The linearity test results showed a significance value of 0.219, which falls into the moderate category. These findings indicate that the use of TikTok as a learning medium is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes and learning motivation in ICT subjects. Therefore, TikTok can be considered an alternative innovative and contextual learning medium in line with the development of digital technology.
