Abstract

The 2024 simultaneous regional elections show interesting political dynamics, including a decrease in the level of polarization and competition between candidates, as well as surprise results in several regions. This article analyzes the factors that cause the decline in voter participation, the dominance of cartel politics, and the difference in the results of pre-election surveys, exit polls, and quick counts. This study also highlights the role of endorsement of national figures, the potential for fraud, and the influence of the Constitutional Court (MK) decision regarding the threshold for the nomination of regional heads. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Atut as a suspect in the bribery case against the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Akil Mochtar. This case is related to the management of the Regional Election dispute in Lebak Regency and involves Tubagus Chaeri Wardana, Atut's sibling, who had previously been detained by the KPK. Atut's detention raises the question: will this be the end of Atut's political dynasty in Banten? The detention is believed to weaken the rent-based political dynasties of corruption that have taken root in the region. Nurmansyah revealed that dynastic politics is the process of directing the regeneration of power for the interests of certain groups in order to gain or maintain power in a country (Nurmansyah: 2015)
