BETON RINGAN DENGAN LIMBAH BATA MERAH SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI AGREGAT

The materials that make up concrete in general still use materials that are difficult to renew, even for aggregates (sand and gravel) massive aggregate mining is carried out which of course can cause environmental damage and reduce the availability of aggregates in nature. We are trying to innovate by using red brick waste as a replacement material for aggregate in concrete. This research was conducted at the Construction and Building Materials Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University. Physical properties testing is carried out to ensure that the red brick waste used meets the requirements for concrete constituent materials. The concrete test object is cylindrical in shape measuring 15x30 cm and the compressive strength test was carried out at 14 days which resulted in a concrete compressive strength of 270.752 kg/cm2 or 26.6 MPa and if converted to 28 days it was 307.672 kg/cm2 or 30.2 MPa. The weight of the concrete with red brick waste is 2067 kg/m3 so it does not meet the requirements for lightweight concrete (≤1900 kg/m3). However, the density of the resulting concrete is still much lower than the density of normal concrete, namely 2400 kg/m3. The research results show that this innovation is able to produce lightweight and environmentally friendly concrete, and with concrete quality that meets standards and is much more cost efficient
