Abstract

Condition in the Serang City Old Market there are many problems found on pedestrian tracks such as Pedestrian Feet Traders who are still trading on the sidewalk and also the physical condition of existing damaged and possibly non-compliant sidewalks can affect the comfort and safety of pedestrians. The study aims to find out the effectiveness of service of pedestrian at the Serang City Old Market Area, to know the magnitude of the characteristics of pedestrians, and to know the pedestrian perception of the needs of pedestrian facilities in the old market area. The methods used in this research are the HCM Method 1985, Traffic Counting Survey, and Quisioner Survey. From the results of traffic counting method obtained the highest pedestrian flow on the left side 2,039 ped/m/min for the right side 1,686 ped/ m/min, the highest average speed on the Left side 88.63 m/ min for the Right side 76.27 m/m. The highest Pedestrian density on the left side 0.033 ped/m2 for the right side 0.034 Ped/m2. The lowest pedestrian space on left side 30,132 m2/ped for the right side 29.457 m2/ ped. From HCM 1985 method obtained the level of service in the Serang City Old Market Area was at level of service “A”.  From the quesioners obtained that the public perceptions they need for pedestrian path with additional facilities such as rubbish bins, guides for the disabled, and other apparatuses for plant life and landscaping
